Metatopia!
about 5 years ago – Fri, Mar 01, 2019 at 04:05:11 PM

If you live in the US and are still able and have not already done so, please go and vote!

That being said, I'm just back from Metatopia, a wonderful convention focused on playtesting and designing analog games of all varieties. Physical copies of the Quickstart were for sale there and I was so happy to see people walking around or sitting and reading them.

I got to meet Nell Raban, one of our writers, IRL for the first time and Lucian Kahn's stretch goal funded while we were there!

I also got to participate in several amazing panels and a livestream with a roundtable of PoC designers. 3 Black women, 2 Black enbies, 1 Black man and a Latinx man and woman. Even more amazing, this wasn't even all the designers of color at Metatopia this year. My heart is so full right now. When I went to Metatopia the first time 4 years ago there were maybe 8 at the whole convention. We could have easily filled that room twice over this year. You can watch it here.

Hear more about Orun

I had a fabulous conversation with Tess from the I Am Hear podcast. We talked Orun, and media representation and horror and so much more.

Another Stretch Goal Reached!
about 5 years ago – Fri, Mar 01, 2019 at 04:04:56 PM

We get Piqquitos!

With a little over 86 hours left (time flies right?) we thought it was time for a recap of all we've accomplished with your help so far.

  • 6 new playable species: Ako’Obirin, Ndichie, Karok, Vuu, Igi Eniyan, and Holowan
  • MOAR ART! form our talented crew
  • Brie Beau Sheldon will be creating Aye Syn
  • The Mirrorrim from Christine Beard
  • Nicole WInchester will write a Merchant House
  • Lucian Kahn will write a sect of the Ministry
  • And Kira Magrann will bring us Piqquitos

With a little more, Jonaya Kemper will create an Oro Lord family for us.

I'll leave you today with this quote from Julia Gregson "When we look up, it widens our horizons. We see what a little speck we are in the universe, so insignificant, and we all take ourselves so seriously, but in the sky, there are no boundaries.”

We're so excited right now! I'm starting the editing today so the stretch goal writers can see what we've already built! The art is starting to come in and is gorgeous! We're just over $900 away from our final stretch goal!

Okay, Breathe

The final installment of my AP with She's a Super Geek is out.

I'm going to go breathe into a paper bag for a while. I'll leave you with this quote from Yash Thakur: “See, out there ! Stars are still shining on the horizon. So don't be afraid, just walk with them.”

38 hours to go!

WOW!
WOW!

750+ backers is... mindblowing.

That 100+ of you also want to help get Orun into the hands of those who might otherwise never see it is heartwarming. I'm digging through schools, youth groups, community organizations, and prisons to navigate their particualr brands of beaurocracy to see who we can send copies to. We'd love your help with that. If you know of an organization (or person) you think would benefit from a copy of Orun that might not be able to afford one, fill out this form: https://goo.gl/forms/rOtGYIBdxcpkLDJj2 Priority will be given to those from or that serve marginalized communities.

I'll leave you with this quote from Chef Jose Andres: "I'm always looking to the future and what will next be on the horizon."
