Hey all!
Unsolicited update from me, Jerry D. Grayson!
I am down to the last piece of art needed to complete the book.
Why has it taken so long?
I could give a lot of different reasons, and most of them would even be valid. I cannot speak for Misha or Eloy, but from my perspective, the reason boils down to us having a greater expectation of our abilities and the timeframe in which we could do them. Too much ambition and not enough verve. As initially envisioned, the book was nowhere near as ambitious it is now.
The book has more art in it than a Bob Ross studio. The art by itself could tell the story of ORUN, and with 90% of the art done by the talented Júlio Cesar Oliveira Rocha, it indeed does.
We hired a ton of creative writers, and they added so much to the ORUN mythos. The book expanded exponentially with each new facet. The book started with humble roots and grew into a mighty baobab tree. It's big and bursting with potential for long term campaign play.
This project isn't late because were lazy. It is late because of love.
(Although I am lazy. I move like a slug with the ‘itis)
Love for the material and the opportunity to do an Afrocentric Space Opera, and my love for you and the generosity you've provided.
I could give you what you wanted, but I would much rather give you what you deserve. No half steps, no short cuts, and certainly nothing that will not live up to your expectations of what a diverse Afrocentric sci-fi game can be.
ORUN is built with generous hands- Your hands. Take a bow; you're the real heroes of this project; I'm just one of three guides that got you here.
I can give you something now, but I want to provide you with something better.
That is all.
